The In-Between 2024
The In-Between focuses on the moments that fall between milestones—those unmarked by ceremonies yet deeply etched in memory. We celebrate milestones like graduations and other formal "lasts," but it’s often the unnoticed moments that truly define us. We don’t recognize the significance of driving a familiar route or following a routine for the last time before life shifts. These quiet, everyday moments tend to linger with us more vividly than the events we prepare for and celebrate.
As youth fades, the routines and roles that once shaped us begin to dissolve, and it’s only later that we feel the weight of all the small moments we unknowingly left behind. This process repeats itself throughout life, at every stage. My work captures these fragments of memory through layered washi paper, magazine collage, and line drawings. The washi reflects the constant aspects of identity, the collage represents the fragmented nature of memory, and the drawings highlight the crystal-clear moments that shine through the chaos. Together, these elements remind us that life is composed of these quiet, in-between moments—and in the end, it is the in-between that forms the whole.
